Tackle the scary steek and open a whole new world of possibilities with your knitting! Together we will explore two different styles of steek edges from the fun of a knotted fringe steek great for a shawl and the all round great reinforcement method with crochet. We will finish off with the perfect and super neat steek sandwich band that makes a great finishing touch hiding your steek on a cardigan.

This workshop will be held at Hidden Store, 2 Pierrepont Place, Bath, UK, BA1 1JX

  • intermediate knitter; students should be comfortable to knit and purl in the round with two colours knitting easy colourwork, cast-on, bind -off

    You don’t need to have previous crochet experience

    • 2 sets of 5mm / US 8 needles for knitting small circumference (Double pointed needles or circular needles for magic loop)

    • Stitch markers

    • Sharp scissors

    • 3-5 mm crochet hook

    • Worsted weight yarn in 3 contrastingcolours in the following approx. amounts:

      • MC (main colour used in homework swatch) 20g

      • CC1 (contrast colour 1 used in homework swatch) 20g

      • CC2 (contrast colour 2 used for crochetand steek sandwich band) 10g

  • Students will be sent directions to knit a swatch ahead of the workshop to steek. The swatch should take approx. 1 hour to knit.

 

Cancellation policy: We will provide a full refund for cancellations who give at least 7 days notice. If shorter notice is given, a refund will be offered if a replacement can be found for your place. This workshop is limited to a small number of students, so we reserve the right to cancel this workshop if there are not enough attendees.

  • By Train: Train services to Bath Spa train station are fairly regular. It’s a short 5-8 minute walk from the train station to Hidden Store.

    By Bus: The closest bus stop for all directions is the central Bath bus station which is next to the train station. It is then a 5-8 minute walk to Hidden Store.

    By Car: The closest car park is Manvers Street car park.

  • Please note there a few steps to access the workshop space. There are 2-3 steps into Hidden Store and then another 2 steps into the workshop space at the back of the shop.
