Ristine hat knitting pattern (English)

£4.00

Ristine is a hat knitting pattern with that extra special detail making it a cool classic with a twist. The brim of the hat is an engaging knit with a lattice like pattern from the Estonian island Saaremaa created from vikkel twisted traveling stitches. Knit in worsted weight yarn, this knit hat will fly off your knitting needles especially after completing the gorgeous brim.

The word “ristine” is Estonian meaning crossing or traverse. The brim of this hat features a crossing traveling or twisted stitch pattern reminiscent of lattice work. This stitch pattern comes from the village of Mustjala on the Estonian island of Saaremaa where it is traditionally used on socks and gloves.

Links to tutorials for techniques used are included in the pattern.
