Davvi mitts knitting pattern (English)
Davvi means ‘north’ in the Northern Sámi language. The design was inspired by shapes found in traditional Sámi clothing, woven belts in particular, as well as the natural chevron shape of trees in the forest and the peaks of mountains.
The body of these fingerless gloves features a combination of twisted stitches and colourwork knitting to create a quilted effect. Purl and knit stitches are introduced to the sides of the repeat section to gradually make the chevron shapes smaller. The gloves are knit using three contrasting colours chosen to create a fade or gradient.
Added pattern feature: pattern comes with a colouring page so you can colour your chart to create your own custom gradient effect.
