The Beginning of Exploring Knits & Textures

The beginning of a year long journey exploring the rich world of knits and creating textiles.

I am looking forward to exploring through creating and research about the rich world of nordic cultures and knits. As a starting point  I've put together an inspiration illustration from the wonderful book Muhu Inglid or Muhu Angels in english created by the Estonian illustrator Urmas Viik.

Muhu Inglid ( Muhu Angels) Illustrator: Urmas Viik, Author: Kadri Tüür

My interests stem from creating illustrative designs and patterns from mark making. I am interested in creating textures emulating various knitting styles through line work and series of marks. My work is inspired by the various knitting traditons and cultures around Europe.

Keywords for my research: mark making, texture, knits, ethnic, folk
