Steeking in Style workshop at John Arbon Textiles Mill Open Weekend - Devon, UK

Tackle the scary steek and open a whole new world of possibilities with your knitting! Together we will explore two different styles of steek edges from the fun of a knotted fringe steek great for a shawl and the all round great reinforcement method with crochet. We will finish off with the perfect and super neat steek sandwich band that makes a great finishing touch hiding your steek on a cardigan.

This is a in person workshop at John Arbon Textile’s Mill Open Weekend in South Molton, Devon, UK

  • intermediate knitter; students should be comfortable to knit and purl in the round with two colours knitting easy colourwork, cast-on, bind -off

    • 2 sets of 5mm / US 8 needles for knitting small circumference (Double pointed needles or circular needles for magic loop)

    • Stitch markers

    • Sharp scissors

    • 3-5 mm crochet hook

    • Worsted weight yarn in 3 contrastingcolours in the following approx. amounts:

      • MC (main colour used in homework swatch) 20g

      • CC1 (contrast colour 1 used in homework swatch) 20g

      • CC2 (contrast colour 2 used for crochetand steek sandwich band) 10g

  • students will be sent directions to knit a swatch ahead of the workshop to steek. The swatch should take approx. 1 hour to knit. Included in the price of the workshop is yarn from John Arbon Textiles that will be sent out ahead of the workshop to complete the homework.
