Estonian Nupp Bobble Tutorial by Aleks Byrd

Probably the most well known Estonian stitch is the Nupp bobble stitch. This bobble style is traditionally used in lace patterns for Estonian lace shawls from Haapsalu but also provides a nice bit of texture when combined with other stitch patterns for a modern look.

You can try out this technique in the following patterns from Aleks Byrd's book Traditions Revisited: Modern Estonian Knits:

- Rukkilill
- Mulin

The swatch shown at the beginning is the swatch for the Mulin sweater.
