HILJA

This long wrist warmer roosimine knitting pattern is named after my grandmother who was a masterful knitter. A discovery of little booklet with motifs she had created and copied from traditional patterns back in 1930s Estonia inspired these embroidered looking wrist warmers. The Hilja mitts or wrist warmers are a great knitting pattern for exploring the Roosimine Estonian inlay knitting technique from southwestern Estonia that creates the appearance of embroidery while you knit. Designed to use two contrast colours for the Roosimine, it’s a great beginner’s Roosimine knitting pattern for learning how to knit this technique with multiple colours.
